Trøndelag has large forests with plenty of moose, and red deer are established along the coast and fjords. Roe deer, beaver and forest grouse are found in the lower parts.
The mountains hold ptarmigan and wild reindeer. Large parts of the county are grazing land for Sámi reindeer herding, and anyone hunting with dogs must take care around grazing reindeer.
