Østfold is forest and farming country, with private land split into many properties. Moose hunting is organised in management units spanning several landowners, often with baying or leashed dogs, and roe deer are usually hunted with driving dogs.
Wild boar have come across from Sweden and are established, mostly in the border municipalities. The authorities want to keep numbers down, so the boar season is long. Large parts of the county lie within the wolf zone, which matters if you hunt with dogs.
