Most hunting in Oslo takes place in Marka, the forest north and east of the city. Moose and roe deer are hunted, and the landowners — the municipality and private estates — manage hunting on their own land.
Marka is one of the most used recreation areas in the country. Hunting near trails and ski tracks needs careful planning, and everyone on the team must know their sectors. Parts of Oslo are within the wolf zone.
