Akershus has large forests in Romerike, Follo and parts of Marka. Moose and roe deer are the main species, and red deer are moving in. Much of the hunting is run by management units and hunting teams with long traditions.
Wild boar are established along the eastern border. Large parts of the county are within the wolf zone. With the city close by, many people use the forest — clear warnings and well-defined shooting sectors matter more here than most places.
