Red deer are densest in western Norway and Trøndelag, and the hunting is in steep terrain — from the shoreline up into the hillside. Much of it is stalking at first light and at dusk.
Red deer ground is rented with a licence for a set number of animals, and often with a requirement that a tracking dog is available.
