Ptarmigan is the most rented quarry in the country. The hunting is on the open mountain and in the birch belt, from the Setesdal heaths and Hardangervidda through Trollheimen and Børgefjell to the Finnmark plateau.
Most ptarmigan ground is rented as a card for a day or a week, and many places sell separate cards for hunting with and without a dog. You walk far: ptarmigan ground is measured in hours, not metres.
