The wind decides the stand

The Hunter's Handbook · Norsk

Game trusts its nose. A stand with the wrong wind is a stand without animals.

Wind from the drive towards you

The best wind comes from where the game comes, towards the stand. If it blows from the stand into the drive, the animals will have smelled you long before you see them.

The wind turns during the day

In steep terrain, air often flows down the slope in the morning and evening, and up the slope when the sun warms it. A stand that is good at seven can be useless at noon.

Plan the evening before, and have backup stands ready for the wind shift the forecast says is coming.

In Veida

Tap a stand to see the wind there in four periods through the day. The wind arrows on the map can be moved 48 hours ahead, and the stand draw can favour stands with good wind towards the drive.
